Our Location

For those who wish to explore, there is plenty to offer. From ancient châteaux and walled villages to caves and adventure parks, the region is rich in history and activities. Just over an hour away, you’ll find stunning sandy beaches perfect for a day by the sea. Mont Saint-Michel, one of France’s most iconic landmarks, is just over an hour’s drive. If you’re looking for a city escape, Paris is just over an hour away by train from Laval, making it an achievable day trip

Sat among fields with the former station of St Denis de Gastines, and the now disused railway line, a stones throw from our entrance and a start point for two local walks. When the line was active it was used for transporting both cattle and the “Pavé” that were harvested from the local quarry.

Pavé from the local quarry ready for shipping. Many pavements in Paris are made of this stone.

Within the village, just a 25-minute walk or a short drive away, you’ll find a few essential shops and a welcoming Bar/Tabac. For a wider selection of supermarkets and other stores, Gorron and Ernée are both just a 10-minute drive away. The area is also home to many great restaurants, offering a variety of delicious meals, with excellent lunchtime menus from which to choose.

You will also find a few Michelin-starred restaurants in some of the larger surrounding villages, offering an exceptional haute cuisine experience.

The station still exists, now as a family home, but sadly the trains do not.
