Getting To Us
A car is essential for getting around while staying in the gîtes, as this is rural France.
Most visitors from the UK travel by ferry, arriving in Caen, which is a scenic two-hour drive on quiet roads. Other options include a 2.5-hour drive from Cherbourg or a 1.5-hour drive from St Malo. Dieppe is a 3 .5 hour drive. Dieppe is the lowest cost but can be unsociable times!
We are approximately five hours from the Channel Tunnel.
For those traveling from Belgium or eastern France, the N12 provides a convenient route, passing close to our location. If you prefer to travel by train, the mainline station in Laval is just a 30-minute drive away.
Flights are available from the UK to Rennes airport which is 1 hour and 14 minutes from La Grande Martinière.
We can arrange transfers to and from ferry ports, train stations, or the airport for your convenience, and the transfer charge will be advised prior to your travel.
Travel agent
We have a excellent relationship with a travel agent who can offer great prices on travel fares and also includes more flexibility on changes. He offers deals on the Dover car ferries, plus DFDS ferry between Newhaven and Dieppe, plus channel tunnel travel.
